I was under my truck the other day and i noticed this, so I took some pictures. I was thinking this was some kind of swaybar i have no clue.. If so can i take it off?

It attaches to the radius arms.

And attaches to the cross member both sides.

Yep, swaybar. You can take that off for more articulation while offroad if you want. You might notice a slight bit more body lean in turns on the street, though it shouldn't be a dramatic difference (SLA-IFS trucks tend to lean worse than TTB trucks do).

Thanks, that was the only reason able thing i could think of. I've read that the TTb trucks actually drive better without the swaybar, rather then with one? Debatable i guess, I'll just do it find out after my lift. Now that I've got my tax return, it will soon be happening! :headbang:

most ttb lifts have such stiff coils, you don't need the sway bar. i drive mine daily, interstate speeds and all.... and right now, i have 0 sway bars connected on my b2 that's lifted on 33's lol.

just be smart about it.

I've never saw one that connected to the radius arm crossmember.

Me neither, that's why i wasn't sure.

That's true. I'm going to be running what i think are 6in Skyjacker coils (they were used and unmarked) also gonna use the 4in hole on the superlift brackets, with 31's so I'm sure I'll be fine hah. And I'm a smart driver.:icon_thumby:

:yahoo:
Finally, a pick that provides proof of what I thought. I long suspected that that was the mounting set-up for a first gen ranger (both 2 and 4wd), but had never been able to find one with bars in the local yards or pics online. Years ago I was looking to add a swaybar on my '86 2wd street truck, couldn't find a factory bar but that's where the aftermarket one mounted as well mounted as well.

I've never saw one that connected to the radius arm crossmember.

That's apparently unique to the first gen ranger and BIIs (EDIT: or not), in 89 they moved them to in front of the beams and actually bolting to the beams. Never seen a factory first gen swaybar on a 2wd (never really looked for 4wd not there were many available to look at) so I was beginning to suspect that they didn't exist, and that the 4wd used the same set-up as the 89+ Rangers. That didn't make sense though because I knew that the rare first gens (the Saleens, the GTs, ans the SCCA Race trucks) all were supposed to have bars.

Mine is a 88 and it's in front of te axle like normal. Of course mine is a b2.

Think it's the high rider or STX option? Maybe? Idk.

My 87 STX hirider I used for parts had the front mounted bar.

The first gen super cabs have the sway bar under the front.
The first gen reg cabs have the sway bar out front of the axle.

Blake, you ever get up Almanor way?

Yeah sorry for the crapy pictures, there were with my super high tech cell phone.. hah. So it seems to be rare to have it under on a super cab 4x4?

That makes so much since! I have a first generation(88') super cab 4x4.

And no I've never been up there. I moved to Paradise CA not to long ago from Reno. What's up there? Ha.
