OK, I know it's not a truck but.... I have a 95 Tarus and it has a broken front sway bar. Ihave a good used one. The manual says to unbolt the raer of the sub frame. Is that realy needed??

If its broken in half, you can just take it out. But your going to have to drop the rear of the subframe to get the new one in (in one piece, that is).

Before you put the new sway bar in, try driving your car without a sway bar and see how it rides. I took the front sway bar out of my '00 3.0 Ranger, and my truck rides much better without the bar.

That isn't an option for everyone. Some people live in states where we have to have the entire suspension intact for the vehicle to be legal.
