Swapping to a 5R55 from 03 or new Explorer?

I have an 02 Ranger, 4.0 4x4 and the 5r55. I hate the tall 1st gear in this transmission. I see that the explorers got a lower 1st gear in 02 or 03 with the new body style. Can I swap to this transmission and then retune for the different shift points?

You have a 5r55e. 02-05 Explorers use a 5r55w. They are entirely different internally, although they *may* bolt up without hassles IF it's from a V6. A v8 trans will not bolt up. I have no idea if the electronics will work. You might be better off re-gearing the axles.

Not a snowballs chance in hell that it'll even remotely work.

Why? Differences in the solennoids, valve body, the connectors? Just a guess?

I know internally they're different, that's how they got the different gearing. But if the case is the same, and the valve body is the same, a SCT tune with the shift points changed to accomadate the new ratios would be the only thing I see that I would need to change.

Valve body , shift solenoids and function ,wiring and sensors are all different. Total trans length and output shaft are also different.
