Hey guys! Haven't been here in a while since I've been riding my atv more than playing around with my truck. So, here's what I'm wondering. I've got two Rangers, this green/teal whatever it is '92 with a 4.0 and a stick. Interior is so, so and the exterior obviously sucks, but it is running. Also, in this pic, it's in much better shape than it is now. It has started to rust like crazy!

Then there is my '90. It had a 4.0 auto, no motor. It's been sitting for a few years now the frame is looking like it's in pretty rough shape. I had big plans for it, but not really having anyone to wheel with or any funds to to put into it, it kinda got put to the side. Needless to say, I'm wondering how hard or if it's possible to throw the red body on the green chassis. I can't stand the lil green truck. The only thing I do like about it is the stick, the 3.73's and the posi rear end. Otherwise, it looks ugly and it's small. I've always loved the red truck. I've had it about 10 years and I just think it's a great looking truck with great interior and I'd love to put her back on the road. So, anyway, there it is. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Here's the '90.

You'll be fine.

As long as you don't turn around and sell it, or make a habit of swapping bodies out and selling them. No one will care. Lots of truck owners swap out their cabs.

Generally the VIN stays with the cab, generally.

What about the work involved? Is it that hard?

the bed will be easy...the cab takes a little more work because of all the lines wires and hoses

The answer is: more than can be described in one post, not necessarily because it's that difficult, but there is such a large volume of it.

The only way that can easily be described over the internet:

Get some masking tape, and markers/pens and label every connection. Put all loose parts in labeled baggies. Take LOTS of pictures. A factory shop manual or Haynes/Chiltons manual will help immensely as well.

And I can just about guarantee you'll spend more than you want/expected. The "well it's this far apart already" bug will bite you hard.
