I'd like to swap in a b2 gas tank because i'm relocating my fuel to the bed and the 20 gallon ranger tank is just too big. My question is, can I use my 4.0 sending unit in the stock b2 tank? If not, can the 2.9 FP, support the 4.0?

The BII tank is 23gal.......

2.9 FP will support the 4.0, Yes. I can only assume the sending unit will work as well.

I don't know if the entire assembly is different between Ranger and BII tanks though...

IIRC, 3rd gen Rangers had two tanks available. A 21 gallon and a 16.5 gallon. A 23 gallon tank from a BII is undoubtedly larger. :icon_twisted:

However, the B2's tank dimensions might be different enough to make it a more plausible choice for a bed mount. Personally, I don't know, it might be better to set the two tanks side by side and see if either one fits what you want.

One would assume the assembly from the BII would be similar enough to a Gen3 Ranger's to make the sending unit interchangeable. The only problem I can see is that the gauges may use different voltages to read fuel level.
