Drove to and from a friend's place one night and in the morning found the battery dead. Replaced the battery then it died again. Tracked down the voltage leak to the alternator and got a new one. However, I found that it's nearly identical except for the angle of mounting bolt hole. Will this cause problems?

I dont think it will bolt up

I agree. Your bracket won’t like that. They gave you the wrong one. Probably a case of “right box, wrong part inside”.

I looked at google. According to pictures anyways theres 2 different 2.9 alternators.

It seems i ran into this when i bought one too...ones externally regulated, the other isnt. Assuming google is right i wonder if it was an midyear change or something.

But every 2.9 ive seen has had the holes like his stock one.

Either way it wont work

They're wanting $45 for em now at pickers. I have about 3 of them in the parts closet I don't think any were over $25
I'd as soon to have an old Motorcraft as a new AutoZone
