Like the title says I recently purchased a HD tranny from a u-pullit yard and I am wondering if it is possible too change the tail housings?
The idea behind this would be so that I can have the bosses for the 1354M transfer case linkage when I get one.

This would make it simple for alot of people on here to run a 1354M without having to fabricate their own brackets.

hahaha, nevermind just went and put the trannies side by each and took the tailhousings off it was pretty obvious as to the fact that they wouldnt fit each other.

If you have any mechanical ability all you have to do is swap out the main shaft. But there are no real differences between the 2 transmissions besides the extra bolt hole on the HD transmission.

How can you swap out a shaft when the HD has the input and output shafts reversed from the original? At least that's what I've always heard....

Either way I'd rather not mess with the shafts and screw something up, I could probably do it but don't want to risk messin it up. I'll just wait for a ranger/explorer to hit the JY that has the tail hoisin I'm looking for

what?

Sorry, that was pretty bad...

I'm talking about the length of the shaft. I've always read that the R1HD input shaft is the same length and the original R1's output shaft. And vice-versa.
