Will try to keep as short as possible. Tried posting a pic of the part in question.
I have a 98 ranger 4.0 that I am swapping in a motor from a 99 Explorer, that is supposed to be a 98 ranger motor also. I am using the new motor in the old truck, using the old wiring, ecu, etc. The issue I have today is when I swapped the wiring over the Cam sensor plug on the new motor only has two wires to plug in, the old motor has 3 wires. Can I just take the electrical connections off and swap them and it still work right? Just put the 3 wire plug in place of the 2 wire plug? Can I just unscrew the two screws and swap that out?
The reason in swapping the wiring is the new motor came from an auto, and there was another 3 foot of wiring going back to the auto transmission, and on the old motor I didn't have any wiring going back. So I planned on using just the new motor and leave everything else the same.
