I have a 1987 bronco II manual (fm145), 4x4 with a blown 2.9 in it and I have a 1983 2wd ranger auto(c3) with a good running 2.8 in it. I was wondering what would be necessary to swap the 2.8 into the bronco II? whether or not the 2.9 flywheel will work with the 2.9 etc. any/ all help would be great, thanks :-D

I am pretty sure the 2.8 and 2.9 are the same block but with different heads and intakes/exhaust. it should just bolt right upas for the wiring and stuff its gonna be kind of annoying, you need a fuel pressure regulator to lower the pressure because carburators only ne like 5 -7 psi and your 2.9 take 40 -50psi. but let someone else talk I only really know the 2.8L

Look on the 2.8 page for what I wrote.
