I have a 86' Ranger 2.3 & a A4ld electronic overdrive trans in my 1930 Model A hot rod under construction. I want a C4 trans as I have nor want a cpu in this car. Can I use the overdrive bell housing with a c4 behind it? If so what year or combination would help me with this application. By the way I have also converted the engine from, EFI to a carb. Back to basics! can be reached @ anak75@hotmail.com

No the A4LD bell will not work, 83-84 Rangers and Bronco IIs had the C5 transmission which is a tweaked over C4 that will interchange bellhousings... I don't know how common they were with four bangers though (they usually had the C3 which is what spawned the A4LD)

You might look into Pinto stuff too, they may have had 2.3s with a C4... :dntknw:
