Ok so I went to get my tires rotated today. I drop her off and go into the store to buy air freshner, carwash and the like. I was in the store maybe 5 minutes when I heard "will the owner of the 99 ranger please come back to tires". They told me they cannot touch my tires because my suspensions shot and it would be a liability:shok:. Come to think of it I just thought my ranger was a rough ride but rough roads and speedbumps are a bitch. I went to my mechanic but the shop was closed. How much should this ordeal cost?

My symtoms, Uneven wear on all 4 tires(all 6 months old :annoyed: ), Front tires are wearing big time in the inside and you can notice even from a distance(reason I went for a rotation), and You feel EVERYTHING on the road, also steering radius sucks and steering "creak".

Any help so I don't look retarded in front of the mechanic Monday would be greatly appreciated and earn you a rep point from me. I cannot believe how many issues im having in the past few months. Also gotta replace my dpfe sensor :pissedoff: . I need this ranger to last me at least another year without constant major repairs so I could afford my dream truck, 2005 ranger edge ext cab 4.0:headbang:

ball joints, shocks, and check the stability bars.
worn out ball joints give a loud squeaking noise, mine had all these things worn out when i got it, hell even at 30mph i felt the truck like if i was sailing on a boat

my question is which store did you go to? they told you your suspension was shot, but they didnt say where or why? that seems like something they tell you in the explanation.

Costco. they didn't explain further as they said they wouldn't touch my tires due to liability

i see....costco has some good deals on tires, me and my wife are goin there for tires on her car

No one can tell you what's wrong with it over the net because problems like this need to be seen/checked in person. The symptoms you describe can be caused by any number of things, including; ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, shocks, springs, brakes. All of that in any combination can cause what you're noticing.

I'd think it's obvious at this point that the alignment is out. Did you not have this done when you had those tires put on?

My best advice for not looking stupid in front of your mechanic on Monday is to ask for an inspection and quote on the necessary repairs, then don't freak out when it's hundreds of dollars. :)

yeah im expecting it to be out the ass........but necessary repairs must be made

you may be able to get them to diagnose the problem and then fix it yourself....

anything suspension related Im gonna leave to a mechanic. I only do basic maintenance. I only have one jack(2 if you count the shitty ford one in my cab) and no jack stands so I don't even do my own rotations :icon_surprised:. My trucks getting older and previous owner beat the **** outta her. plus as much as I baby her I still gotta load the bed up for work. such is life but at least I don't have a car payment and at least the trucks tranny and engine components are sound. needs a battery but I gotta do other things first so i'll hold off on that until the current battery don't start the car anymore

Well Just got back from the mechanic and he discovered the issue. Upper Control Arms :( . Parts labor and alignment= $579.88. Guess I gotta start saving

ball joints or the arms themselves?

Arms themselves, the lady(not the mechanic, he was extremely busy but passed her the message) said that over time the rubber on the arms wear down.

isnt that a replaceable bushing?

Apparently not. I use 2 mechanics for estimates and both are very honest. Both gave the same diagnostic. Ohhhh BTW I inherited(supervisor got laid off) a 2003 silavardo 2500HD Crewcab. Has 210,000 miles and has towed a 12,000 LB trailer for at least 100K of that. Also took it down for estimates and one of the estimates says, ***do not recommend transmission flush due to mileage***. Does this mean the trannys on its last leg? Not that it matters hugely as my Ranger is still my worktruck and personal vehicle. The Chevy will only serve for large load, transporting more than one passenger, and TOW BITCH.
