anybody have experience with this kit?
my trucks steering is shot anyway, and I'm thinking this would dramtically increase my chances of not smearing myself on a tree. but, it says all over it that you must use a superlift dropped pitman arm. i've got an RCD one on it now...why the heck won't that work? so I figure the superlift one must drop a different amount.
can somebody post up maybe a pic with measurements on it or something?
thanks for the imput everybody.:icon_thumby:

Probably becasue they want you to buy THEIR product.

The only reason I can see them saying that, is they may run a slightly different taper on the TRE at the pitman, than the others.

I'm running a non Superlift pitman with my kit and have no issues, but I did get the SL pitman with the kit.

thanks :)
hows do you like the kit? It seems like a whole hell of a lot of $ for what you get, but I gotta start driving my truck about 80 miles a day compared to 10-ish.

I think site owner Jim Oaks has Superrunner steering on TRS-1. Shoot him a PM.

thanks :)

I drive 120 per day. I had decent Tierod angle with the inverted Y linkage and it was fine. I didn't notice a whole lot of difference. It seems to make more offroad than on (With good angles).

I have it on my '92 and it is much better than stock and am using a Skyjacker drop pitman arm with no troubles.

thanks :)

How much lift is on your truck?
Contrary to what Superlift states, the kit does not work well if you have more than a 4" lift. It would need to be modified by dropping the centerlink down lower to work well with a 5.5-6" lift.

The kit will bolt up fine if your pitman arm is like the "standard" one below.

I've got a 4" lift on it now. The pitman arm I have is a BDS. I'm also a little worried about my gear box. I'm assuming you can adjust the preload on it, but I haven't looked into it.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead. I've got skyjacker 6" coils with a 2.5 drop pitman on my '94 Navajo with ~8" in the back. Its aligned about as well as it can be and tracks straight. I do a lot of freeway driving and it can get squirrely over 60. Especially when you hit some rough spots while going around a curve on the freeway. Not having sway bars and only single shocks are probably a bigger part of it than bump steer. I don't want to drop the money on the superrunner if it doesn't make much difference on the road. Did anyone notice reduced bump steer or better handling at speed with the kit?

Hey where've you been?? Cool to see ya again (I made use of your 4.0L clutch swap writeup awhile back, excellent mod!) :icon_thumby:

Squirrelyness in curves definitely sounds like steering issues to me (especially if it's during left turns and not so much right turns).

I've had the Superrunner kit on mine for some time now, but like I mentioned in my post above, it does need to be modified if your lift is more than 4" (which sounds like it is). Once modded, the kit works very well, but without being modded, it's maybe only marginally better than a standard (2") drop arm alone.

Stonecrusher Steering released a new linkage for RBVs here recently, might be another option to look into (no need to modify it). It uses heims instead of standard TREs however.

Take a look at this post, I suspect you'll find some useful info.

Hi Shaun, glad to see you are still around. In the last few years I have gotten married, changed jobs, and moved twice. I really haven't had time to do any wheeling around working 65 hours a week and remodeling our house. Glad you like the 4.0 clutch, it made my B2 feel like a whole different truck.

In my navajo it seems to be more squirrelly the more weight I have in the back. Empty is fine, but if I have 500 lbs of roofing in the back it pulls all over on the freeway.

The stonecrusher kit looks awesome! I am a big fan of simple overbuilt designs, they seem more reliable. Heims don't scare me, I have been running Johnny Joints on my radius arms for years now with no issues. Do you have any idea on pricing? I couldn't find anything about it on their website. It looks like they place the pivot point the same as the drivers side beam. I would think that would pretty much do away with bump steer. I never really thought about it, but it looks like it that design would be easy to build myself.

There are a few here who have built them, but using TREs. It does seem to work well.

Yeah, having some weight in the back certainly can cause the front to get lighter which would aggravate the problem further since the tires would be toed in more.

I think pricing on the Stonecrusher kit is currently hovering somewhere in the low-mid $300s IIRC.
