Anyone have a super chips programmer for their ranger. i would like to get one and use the 87 performance tune, but I'm concerned it would affect my towing, if I don't use 87octane.

Why would you use anything BUT 87 octane in a Ranger?

That's assuming you haven't added boost or stroked the engine.

I just heard some rumblings that if you use 87 octane with the 87 tune, if tune your engine pings from detention.

If it pings after you tune it then yeah, bump to 89. That shouldn't affect your towing.

Years ago when gas was cheap and I was stupid I ran 89 in my truck for a little bit and I didn't notice any problems towing. Then someone pointed out the stupidity of that and I went back to 87.

The only reason I would probably get one is to correct the speedo for bigger tires/gears.

man when I was younger gas was a buck so I would run 92. Being young and dumb I thought hey it will run better! Rofl but hell 1.20 a gallon was nothing I could pick up friends and have them all pitch in a buck or two and we could cruise all night and still go to class next day lol

What motor do you have? Maybe a 4.0 swap for more power?

I think I'm just gonna leave it the way it is, I have a cai and cat back, already besides a 3.0 2wd, it was meant to be a reliable daily driver, and that what it is.Not saying I don't love my truck but if I wanted a toy I would have gotten a 4x4 with a v8.
