What's readily available for cheap to check a contact pattern on a R&P? Cheap and readily available being a key words.

The pin holding the carrier pin on a D35 is froze, had a punch break off into the carrier, and fudged it up. I have a replacement carrier. I'm NOT wanting to take a chance on the contact pattern, even though it would likely be fine with using the original shims.

What would YOU use in a pinch?

Thanks!

Ryan

Some nice thick grease can do the trick in a pinch to get a quick idea of the pattern.

Like you said, you should be just fine swapping the carrier and keeping everything in its original place.

Just make sure to keep some good pressure on the ring gear while rotating the pinion into it to get a good pattern.

Thanks! I'll give it a try.

Worked good enough!

Everything looked good.

Usually does!
