And it wont have the lower notes either. Needs alot of power to produce them. Tried it before and it actually wasnt bad for a stock headunit, but there wasnt the low notes and the headunit didnt have enough power to play it real loud. An amp is definately a must-have for subs.
and if you have a stock head unit, you would need a low output converter... unless you want words coming through your sub... and even with a LOC, the power your head unit produces will doubtfully even be much more than what it was with just stock speakers in the truck. amplifier is definately needed
depending on how many watts the sub is rated for it will draw more power out of the head unit then it can produce which can burn a hole in the amp in the head unit. Happen to me and some friends just get an amp
dont, its not smart because of overloading the amp in your headunit if you want a little more bass, theres a setting on your headunit that you can turn it up, if that isnt enough buy a wiringkit and do it the right way. trust me if you want a sub hook it up the right way the first time you will be more happy with the results.
