Hey I have a 93 Reg Cab Ranger. But I have a ? i am building the box to be like this one same everything.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=360044415320

But then i realized that the mounting depth is 4 5/8 inches and that's what most subs are. I was wondering if i can run this sub which is 4 5/8 mounting depth also.

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-MTX-Thunder-450W-10-Inch-4-Ohm-Sub-4500-Series-NR_W0QQitemZ200275048565QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Subwoofers_Enclosures?hash=item200275048565&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

So i was wondering if that would be ok to do. I don't think so but never built my own box before. I just don't want to ruin anything. Any other input or anything feel free to add.

Thanks Rusty

P.S. just copy and paste the link for the sub for some reason it wont turn blue so you can just click on it but the link works.

anybody????? Somebody must know??????

take a camaro dual 12'' box and cut in half on an angle, it works great and looks good too. thats what i did

is that the max mounting depth? you usually want to leave some space from the back of the speaker motor to the back wall of the enlosure. .5" should be fine.

now if you plan on feeding the sub low power(100-200w) you could get away with using .5" mdf.

didn't know about the camaro box.

I have already built my box out of 3/4inch mdf. It has a mounting depth of 4 5/8 max so that means that i would need a shallow sub correct.

thanks Rusty

You do not have to buy a sub that is tagged as a shallow mount sub. Alpine Type S and JL W1s should fit wiht no problem. I know there are a good many more that will fit also. Here is a pic of my box and to give you a clue of the size it barely hangs over the lip in the back of the cab.

thanks for your help. I cant continue with my sub project because my rear brakes just went out on my truck and they come first at the moment.

Thanks Rusty

Ill be back when i get my brakes fixed.

th31d10t,
Is there anyway that you could give me the dimension's of your sub box? I love the way it looks and fits. I test fitted mine and my seats would have to be like 3 clicks up and hangs out way over the edge so that wont work. If you wouldn't mind i would like to copy your design.

Thanks Rusty Hope to hear from you soon.

heres what i have. its a single 8" using .5" mdf. passenger seat has to be moved up 1 click only because i messed up and measured wrong.

I can get the measurements for my box for me. I have it wrote down somewhere but I just have to find it. Are you going to do two subs or just one because I can give you the measurements for just half if you want. I think my box comes about 3/4" over the ledge. Send me a PM though as a reminder because I don't always check every thread.

That pic is actually the box I built for my friend. Here is a picture of mine with my seats back in. I have not completely finished the box because I had to get my truck put back together. I plan on parking my truck for a lil while in a few weeks so I can work on my interior. I have not put the back carpet back in but It should go right back in (atleast the top part). I have since moved my amps off the box though since i got my center console put together.

Here are a couple of pics of where I have my amps mounted now. I still have some finishing work to do but I had to get it all back together so I could drive it the next day.
