So im looking into getting a 2004 ranger with a 2.3L with the automatic transmission. I want to give it a slight lift and some 31's or maybe 32's. Would this be a bad move?

better regear ....... 4cyl and automatic don't belong in the same sentence.

with gas prices as unstable as they are these days, i would say yes its a bad move. particularly because its a 2wd, meaning your probably only wanting to lift it for the "off road" look.

dont let your friends get to you. theres nothing wrong with driving a stock 2wd. while all of them are diggin in the couch for gas money to feed their "manly" 4x4's...you'll be driving to vegas for a night on the town.

If it has 4.10s stock or you swap in an axle with 4.10s then it wouldn't be bad with 31s. Although 4.56s and 31s would be a much better combo with a 2.3L

Alright, thanks for the help. I was planning on regearing anyway.

Thanks again everyone!
