so i have a few questions that i have been pondering...
when iv been driving my girlfriends truck and il go to slow down and stop at a stop light or sign the oil pressure gage dips down fast to the very bottom of the gage and the oil light in the warning light cluster lights up. it only does it for a few seconds before it jumps back up to normal maybe 5 to 10 seconds.

and the other was when il be going down the road an let off the gas there will be kind of a thumping grumbling noise and feel it also does it when i get back on the pedal.

are these something i should really worry about?

Edit: the said truck is a 1993 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9 V6 4WD Clubcab

the oil pressure gauge thing sounds like it mite be your mafs my ranger does the same thing and my rpms drop real low and it shake and almost dies them picks back up

could it also be an issue in the gages/inteament panel? the gas gage is inaccurate above half a tank. the tach has also had hiccups twice that iv noticed while at 65 ish the tach should be bout 2 grand or above an i saw it dive to 1 an a half then spike to 3 and settle back down at the normal range all while i had steady pressure on the gas and heard no changes in the sound of the engine:icon_confused:

I had a '96 Dakota 5.2l and the oil pressure sender went bad. At anything over 2,000 rpm the pressure would drop out of sight.
On that engine the sender lived right by the distributor. Wasn't terribly expensive to replace although I did need to buy a special too. About $40 total as I remember.

if its a sender is there a way to check it and test it out?

also another thought? it is due an oil change could the filter be full/clogged? would that affect anything?

oh no its ruined trade it in or sell it befor you get stuck man lol jk run and obd see what ya get then come back :)

Is the oil at recommended levels? cause if it really low then it could be sucking up nothing causing the pressure to drop when you hit the brake due to the oil flying to the front of the pan and to the back when you accelerate.

that could be been i while since i checked it its never used or burned oil so far in the year and 4 months that iv been around it. can motors develop that in a few mouths? she gets off work around 7 730 il check it then.

one more question why you driveling your gf's car?

one more question why you driveling your gf's car?

to be honest: its quieter(has stock exhasust), it rides a lil better, its quicker, and its an AUTOMATIC!:icon_thumby: i get sick of the stupid drivers in my town stopping at random making me drop 2 gears to avoid stalling(witch iv done and leads to my road rage) oh and it...well stops...mine not so well :icon_rofl:

:threadjacked:this is his girlfriend who owns the AWESOME dodge there is nothing wrong with a dodge they are the best and there is nothing wrong with them. i will tell you what is wrong with FORDS though EVERYTHING you see the makers of ford knew that and they circled and highlighted the problem in blue. but i also have to wonder what i was thinking, i bought him his bronco...:icon_rofl:

well i think tomarrow i will do an oil and filter change and see what that does as far as changing anything and will report back on it after the change.
