so my parents are in ireland visiting my sister and they called and were telling me how the minivan they rented gets 40 MPG! I have trouble imagining a diesel minivan. Anyways, I started looking online at vehicles over there and came across this:

A bit pricey at about $52,000 USD

But damn, that looks sexy.

looks alot like a Sport Trac to me. Needs a bigger bed :P

maybe, but it'd be a sport trac with a 3.0 diesel engine:icon_hornsup:

Ya I would take that over a sport trac just for the engine lol :D was just saying looks like a sport trac.

You should re title the thread "smart Europe". They are so far ahead of North America when it come to cars it's not funny. Maybe if the price of fuel here doubled people would stop buying F350's as daily drivers and then maybe there would be a demand for a compact car with a diesel engine that gets 40 mpg. Up until that point all these great little cars will stay in Europe.

The thing is THEIR diesel vehicles won't run correctly on our diesel fuel.

Even the newer upgraded diesel fuel isn't the equal of overseas diesel.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. My grandfathers diesel Skoda gets better mileage than the eco-nut loving Prius. People praise that POS for nothing. Europeans have been getting that kind of mileage for YEARS.

i meant it in an im jealous of them way or like annoyed that they have them and we dont if that makes any sense.

Of course they need to get that kind of mileage over there with gas(diesel) around $8 USD a gallon

The diesels over there wouldnt pass emissions over here though. They allow larger particles in their exhaust than over here from what i am told.

maybe we shouldn't be so damn concerned about how small or big our particles are:annoyed:

yea, other countries are trying to big everything bigger and cheaper and yet were making it impossible to do anything cause of all our laws. one example is the military, we have cutted back on our weapons, and we got $hithole countries like iran and N korea trying to build nukes. we have made our selves weaker cause our leaders feel sorry for the rest of the world -_- now who will those countries look up too? i miss the old america

IDK - man, i've been in several BMW's with diesel power plants that you would sell your left nut to. They've got their shizzle down on those. Of course, they measure their mileage in litres/100 kilometers but even some of the best 5xx and 3xx series are getting better than 40 mpg. AND they ain't slow. I drove all over Germany in a 5 series wagon - autobahn, cities etc. and it always got over 40 MPG. And it would smoke almost everything on the autobahn - except for that Mustang GT that came flying past us at over 200 MPH.:icon_hornsup:

And then theres stuff like this:
http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/Ka/EmissionsAndEconomy
unless im reading this wrong, thats a car with 55.4mpg combined(weird that its in mpg) and is gas not diesel. A prius get 51 highway. Not to mention it only costs about $12,500 USD. Can someone explain why ford doesnt have cars like this over here?

i can't wait, i'm gettin stationed in europe, lakenheath AFB, takin my truck and wanna get a diesel crewcab ranger when there too haha. it will be awesome. maybe i will swap the engines to bring the crewcab back....... then 4bt woot woot.
