i want to take that annoying warning buzzer off my 86.
everytime i open the driver door it goes off, it cuts the radio out and is freakin loud. i would just cut the wires that lead up to the door, but then the dome light wouldnt come on....alldata said its somewhere on the right side of the dash, but i couldnt find it.

dont know why but mine never did come on

in my 1990 its in right above the transmission tunnel. I just followed the noise and felt components untill i felt one that would vibrate whenever the ding or buzz would go. then i proceeded to remove the dinger or buzzer carefully. once it was removed it got a good ol' smashing on the floor!

Shouldn't be too hard to find if you let it ding and follow the noise and feel for the vibration.

yea i tryed that...but big hands + small spaces + very short tolerance for annoyin things=quiting and throwin the keys across the yard....

get someone you know with small arms and good ears to find it. Like some neighbours kids. hahaha

Last one I removed was a little white box, somewhere just above the drivers feet, around the steering column.
Like dude said, leave the key in, let it buzz, and feel, or have someone smaller feel for it...you'll kinda have to listen/ follow the noise with your ear to find it, then feel the little box, there will be no mistaking which one it is, it'll be vibrating (buzzing) like hell! Then simply unplug it, and do as you wish with it. I have sent several to their deaths in the trash.

im thinking a 16lb pound sledge hammer for the one in my 85

iv always been good with fitting my hands into small places(no pun intended), so its comeing out too
good luck finding it
post up where its mounted

itl be the second unnessicar box taken care of in one of our trucks, like dads car phone box that came in the truck that just sorta hung there for no apparent reason

I actually would like one in my truck...but only until I start driving it...so far I've drained the battery about six times and left my fuel pump running dry twice...I now have to replace the fuel pump...

All because I turned the key to move the truck (steering) and forgot to turn it off (I would call it stupid but, in reality...it's me...)...

Other than that...I usually disabled mine...they are freaking annoying...hope you find it soon...

on an 86 its located right above the glovebox inside the dash. it should be a little box about 2x4x1 inches and if you flop the glovebox down by pushing in on each side and pulling out on it to get the tabs to clear the sides of the opening, then pull the trim off right above that you can unscrew and remove it easily.

thats good, cause the glove box was broken, so i took it out a long time ago,

there is no reason to take it to autozone to hook the computer up to it. nothin is wrong with the truck. anyway i work at advanced, so i could do it any time i want.

found the damn thing... it was at the top right corner of the glove box hole.
it was a small black box,

Heh, I cheated with the last two trucks I had... inside the cover on the steering column there is a wire that goes from the ignition switch down... and right about where it meets the dash there is a plug connection. Unplugged it and put the dash cover back together. Way easier than trying to figure out where the buzzer/dinger is hidden.
