So i took of the front grill and fenders and hood and pan and headlights and exhaust and tail lights and everything on my maxda,
But working on my pass side fender, I got all the bolts off, twisted the head off one of the bolts (:pissedoff:), but right up on the inside of the fender, around where the door hinges are mounted, its really hard to get anything up there, so with a 11" extension (;missingteeth;:headbang:), i got the ratchet up there to figure out that the bolt was stripped, im guessing i did this wheras the truck was never stripped before,
Back on the point,
How can i remove a stripped bolt?

p.s
I already have a Mastercraft Maximum kit for removing stripped bolts, but i dont have it here and i think it will be hard to get up there?

I'm sure there will be a better way presented in a later post, but I figured since I got here first I'd post anyways.

When ever I strip the living hell out of a bolt and don't have the correct tools to remove it, I'll put a slash in it with an angle grinder and use a flat head.

Good luck and be careful with that grinder!

thanks, ill try that as soon as i get my grinder back, its at our garage, which is not in my garden, which is 10 minutes away, and just incase your wondering why i dont have my truck in it is cause its in my 2 uncles gardens, my dad and his brothers share it, and theyre to contrary and they have little kids that would be up there getting hurt and pickin on it, seems they know where the key is

I don't know about the motorcraft set but I always used these when I had stripped bolts or even ones that were just too stubborn to come out. They work wonders.

It's the first set on the page. Other than that I agree with cutting a slit into it and trying that. Good luck.

+1 million, i only have half the set--and they have helped so much...

also u can try and hammer a smaller sized socket onto the head.

another thing that will help later is to use 6 point sockets on stubborn bolts, they won't strip as easy.

did i miss something? why the hell are you tearing your truck all the way apart?

so is the fender still on the truck? you did say the head was broken off right? i deal with crap like this from day to day so if you describe everthing just a bit more detailed, i might be able to tell you how to get it out.

Yes, a picture is worth a thousand worms...but I agree with Kelly88...I have a set of those and they work most of the time...and if that don't work there is always the torch...depending on where the bolt is...

ok, I have every bolt but the 2 inside the fender, there located up around where the door hinges mount to, but theyre obviously on the opposite side of the fender than the door hinges are..
But i was getting at the bolt with about 7 miles of extension on the ratchet, its a 10mm if that makes a difference, and when i tryed to take it off, i guess it wasnt on there good enough, so it started slipping, by the time i got it on there, it jus slipped alltogether, and i got a light up there to see that it was stripped. and yea guys i already have a set like that only its mastercraft, and its at my cabin

i would get a picture, but i dont have the charger for my camera, and i dont think you would be able to see it anyways, but ill see what i can do

That would be good...but if you're sure it's stripped and your tools are not with you then a pic ain't gonna make much difference...you could try hammering on a smaller socket but it sounds like it may be a problem with all the extensions you're using...

I know on the Ranger the top fender bolts are accessible if you open the door...the maxda is a different animal though...

yea i tried opening the door, that does about as much good as my nan and pop in bed..

So what does this bolt screw into? The door hinges?

I've ALWAYS had problems with bolts that are rusted into the U-clip nuts. Especially on body parts where I end up breaking the U-clip intead of freeing the bolt.

Also for the record I've found impact drivers to be useful, and of course a large dose of Penetro 90.

its mounted on to a piece sticking off of the, ummmm damnit i forget the name for it....what the front fenders and everything go on to, like the main part of the body, shittt.

If it's the tab sticking off the "A" pillar, you could probably get a pair of visegrips on the bolt from the door side. Just open your door, and grab onto the threaded end of the bolt, and get a nice tight grip on it with the vise grips, then turn it the opposite way you would turn it if you were turning the head end. This might break it loose enough to loosen it by hand from the right side. Next option is are you replacing the fender? If so, just cut the tab on the fender side, and it will gain you access to get the bolt out before bolting a new fender on.
