I somehow stripped the teeth off my Passenger side inner axle. Now when I go into 4wd, I am only 3 wheeling I have looked high and low for that inner shaft, but can not find one. I had an idea to drill through both the inner axle and outer axle where they slide together, and bolt them together with a case 5 bolt and neoprene nut. I only really engage the 4wd when I need it. Last time was last week when my boat trailer was wedged in the soft sand when I was removing the boat from the lake. 2wd just did not cut it. What do you think? Is this a bad idea? I do not go rock climbing, mud slinging or any thing like that. I use it when going in the woods to hunt or fish and pulling my boat\trailer from the water, and that is it. Maybe one day I will go to the local mudhole or pay to play in the mud at the area major mudpit, but I do not see that happening any time soon.

No you'll have to replace the shaft(s). Way too much stress there to be able to rig anything up on it.
Check www.car-part.com, should be able to find shafts pretty much anywhere.

Be sure to keep that thing lubed and sealed too, those are about the only things that would cause that to strip out.
