Ill be racing my 96 explorer in the stock class of ECORS this season. I'm not really looking to lift the front...just make it stronger. I want it to take a beating by rocks and from jumping it.
The rules wont allow a sas.....So I have to beef up the ifs a bit. The front dif will remain open.
What can I do? What are the most common broken parts and easy fixes?

Not a whole lot you can do to beef up the driveline part of it (the low-pinion diff primarily, though you can get upgraded CV half-shafts if you got the coin).

For suspension upgrades, Camburg or Autofab should have something you can use if you're able to swap parts like A-arms (they specialize in prerunner trucks that see plenty of air time).
