Street Rod Ranger

No rush, I'm in the same boat. Bought the wheels with tires off another Ranger owner, and not exactly sure how they will fit. I know two of them need replacing cause they are to narrow for my taste, the other two may have to go as well. Two have a 225 and while that size looked great on a 6" wide Ranger wheel it's too narrow for these. The others are better with 235s, but may have too tall of a sidewall (I'm doing drop at same time as rebuild). They are almost to narrow for my taste as well, I think a 245 tire would be great as a minimum width for these wheels. While I'm on the subject of the wheels, did you use spacers?

I also meant to ask in my last post, where did you get the seat belts? I'm trying to decide between replacing mine or having them refurbished.

The rear tires are 255/50-17.

Found that a Harley vented cap fit my tank.

This is the bike I robbed it off of (will replace it soon enough). The tank is an early 70's Gary Littlejohn coffin.

That looks like a good project for a 2.3 turbo also.

I think the 97in Sorensen Performance shovelhead will give a little better power to weight.

I put my doors back together. Reassembled the window regulators, and put the glass in. Just waiting on the door panel fasteners from LMC.

The new weatherstripping was a bitch. Took me best part of the afternoon to do both doors.

Did you get the weather stripping from LMC as well? I ordered some from JC Whitney many years ago and they didn't have formed part at the front lower corner of the glass, these appear to have it. I think that was a big part of the reason I always had trouble with it staying in place.

I got them from Rock Auto. They didn't come with the goofy formed piece at the front bottom corner. I cleaned up my old ones and reinstalled those.

So much for that idea, mine are were too rough to clean up. That is if they are even still there, may have thrown them out when I tore the truck down. I've seen a set on Bronco Graveyard that appear to have that formed piece on them, but that could be a stock photo so who knows. I'll probably order from there and see what I get.

That should be an easy enough piece to find at a junkyard. It's a formed semi-hard plastic that shouldn't really deteriorate that much. Don't even need any tools to remove it.

The doors are looking good.....here's a side-note:

They deteriorated pretty good on my 84, but it had a hard life outside and little care before I got it. I'll have to find the weather stripping on the 86 they might still be in good enough shape to re-use. Problem with junkyards is that none around here have anything in the way of Rangers older than 95. They crushed everything older a year or two ago, and the couple of square bodies left were picked clean at least 5 years ago. Some day when I don't have so much going on I'm going to try to get up with multiranger and do a little yard hopping up his way, just don't know when that day might get here.
