Ive been tossing this idea around for a while and just want an opinion and maybe some help. I would love to make a little street beater ranger with a rotary engine. Definately turbo but would like to see 300+ hp and torque. Has anyone ever thought about this or even tried it?? Ive got my truck where I like it and would like to put a different motor in it. Ive also looked around at just doing a turbo 2.3 but I love the sound and high revs of the rotary. Any ideas or insight would be much appreciated. Im in no hurry to start but I would rather know ahead of time wht I may run into. Thanks

Rotary engine are to be used as touring engines.....

Long high powered drives. Short trips, and regular DD use kill them.

Not to mention apex seals every 70K.

If it's to be used as a DD, 2.3 turbo is the way to go.

Ive had the thought, but awhile back people doubted the point of doing it. My favorite car is an RX-8.

How easily can you get an RX-7 engine? I would do it, 70k is alot of miles to me. My truck got 30k put on it in 10 years time when my dad owned it and I dont drive it anymore now then he did.

As for if it can be put under the hood of a Ranger, anything is possible.

It's been talked about in a few different threads on here. The Search isn't working right now...server problems. We can all try it again in a little bit...

Kind of reminicent of mazda's REPU. Rotary from the factory.

That was a bad ride, way ahead of it's time

Well I would use it as a daily driver in the summer. Ive had my truck now for 2 years and may have put like 3-4K miles on it just driving it for a couple months. So Im not worried about doing a rebuild every 70k. If I was to do the swap I would go through the motor anyways. I do live in Maine and dont have to much easy access to rotarys besides the once and a while rx7 on craigslist. When I do drive, it usually isnt short trips. I would like to find someone that is a specialist and talk to him and see wht he thinks and where I should start.
