Hi,
I am new here. Ever since mid January of this year I have noticed a whirring noise coming from under my feet. It starts up as soon as the truck moves and gets higher pitched the faster I go. Kinda like a race car sounds as it moves(ish).
I have a 95, 3.0 V6 Ranger with around 130,000 mi. I have owned this truck for about 5 years now.
This all stemmed from trying to turn off the check engine light (and get the cops off my back for outdated tabs), this past January.
Starting Dec 24, 2010 thru mid Jan. 2011 I have replaced the Starter, EGR valve, Camshaft synch and shaft, all 3 O2 sensors and the coil pack(?) due to a missfire. Last week the front brakes were replaced. The alternator is 2 yrs old. The drivers CV joint needs it soon as well as (maybe) the clutch.
Because the check engine light had been on for soooo long, I wasn't sure if the whirring noise was the results of all the new parts or what, but I first noticed it after getting everything replaced and driving to the Emissions Testing place. And this past week it has doubled in sound right after getting the brakes done. The check engine light came back on right after I passed my emissions test and got the new sticker.
It is the same code for the EGR valve.
Plan of attack is to get the noise checked out by my mechanic this week, but any advanced advice is helpful.
Thanks,
Teresa
