strange auto tranny problem

ok well along with the other minor problem i have with my truck. recently the tranny is giving me trouble, and its kinda hard to explain.

ok so last weekend when i went riding, my truck slipped from 3rd to overdrive (felt like it hit nuetral and then engaged smoothly). once it did that then the "overdrive off" light started blinking. when i got to a stop light i re-started the truck and the light shut off and then later down the road the exact same thing.

now after a good days ride when im driving home i dont have an overdrive light problem, but when im just cruising with the pedal barely in maintaining speed it starts slipping and my speed starts declining (like im in neutral). when it does this i push the pedal in deeper and once the pedal hits about half throttle you can feel it bang and engage. whether i hammer it to half throttle, or ease it there, it does the same thing.

another problem is that when i go into reverse it take about 3 seconds for it to engage.

other than that the truck drives fine it up/down shifts fine and it goes into drive the way it should. ive tried everything i can think of. i check the tranny fluid, tried shutting off overdrive, tried using cruise control, and there is no lights on my instroment panel showing a problem.

anybody have an idea on the problem? im trying you guys before i take it to a shop ($$$). im guessing its an electrical problem and not mechanical since it runs fine otherwise.

If you're over drive light was flashing that means there will be a memory code stored for the tranny. I'd start with getting it scanned and go from there.

ya i got a friend with a scanner ive been trying to get him to remember to bring it home.

ok well my friends scanner doesnt bring up code history but i apperently i have 4 other problems. anybody know what these codes mean?

also, i realised that when i DO turn overdrive off i dont have the problem. so apprently somethings wrong with my over drive. and now my reverse is worse, i have to hit the gas for it to engage.

it sounds like your torque converter or the torque converter lock-up switch is going out, just a guess from experiance though, and just about any chilton or haynes repair book for your year model has a list of the codes in it

ok well those codes dont have anything to do with the tranny, but now i dont have a problem with the overdrive. haha trucks are crazy... i dont get it
