Str8sixfan's painfully slow 2wd to 4wd SAS project

Alright, here's the news, though behind schedule.

The last Thursday in June my 97 purple ranger shot craps on me. I hypothesize that i was the fuel pump that went out while highway cruising. I never got it diagnosed, because it was at 216k miles and I was saving back money to buy something else in September. Original plan was to buy a 4x4 97 or older ranger for the SAS, do the SAS and sell my 2wd when that was done. But I didn't really want to sink money into the 2wd which was about to need tires, needed front shocks and needed dash light bulbs.

So my wife and I went car shopping and found this 2000 3.0L 5speed 4x4 ranger. It only has 94k miles on it when I bought it.

So sadly, this is probably the end to one thread (and the beginning to another on down the road I'm sure). I just put my axle up on craigslist today. I know I could still SAS this thing, but:

1. I would have to buy coil buckets and get them installed dead square
2. Buy a steering box to replace the rack & pinion steering

But I'm hoping to sell the axle and the lift kit to fund some fun things for this thing. I WILL keep the 16" wheels elsewhere in this thread (which is awesome to have as the dealer rattle canned the factory steelies and put on those cheesy wheel covers), and hope to run 265s (32s). But I need to regear. So I'm hoping to find an 8.8 (as I confirmed this has a 7.5 with 3.73s) on car-part.com with a trac-loc and 4.10s (or perhaps 4.56s if I find a Level II rearend). I probably won't lift it at all, but I think I'll be building new bumpers for it on down the road.

I hope to make a rear tailgate like this in conjunction with the back bumper to hold a spare 32" tire:

But I think with as big of wheel well as these have and some custom bumpers and 32s this could have pretty good entry/departure angles.

But we'll see. With new trucks come new mod opportunities.

So I sold that Ranger too. It felt more like the 15yr old vehicle than the one with 96k miles on it. Had many gremlins with it. Could just tell something big was going to go wrong with it eventually.

I now own a Jeep Liberty CRD. As a result:

Almost everything in this thread is for sale. I like in KS, let me know if anyone's interested. I'm breaking it up into 3 parts:

-Axle from inside the Cs in --> http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/5599148517.html
- WJ knuckle swap --> http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/5599158296.html
- Akebono calipers and EBC brake pads --> http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/5599137333.html

I've sold the axle, but still have everything else for the WJ knuckle swap.

What do you want for the wj knuckles swap
