stoopid Ford Noob question SHO => 3.0

If an old Yamaha SHO bolts into the same transaxle as a 3.0 Vulcan would it bolt to a 3.0 Ranger transmission ? Just an idle thought , I don't even have a 3.0. School me please , you princes of the Blue Oval.

Should, unless the bell is different.

You may have cooling issues unless you can find head gaskets for a RWD application.

^you could modify stockers by cutting out the gaskets in the back, and threading/plugging the front passages in the head or block.

I have yet to buy a front wheel drive car. Or a car made in the 21st century. The 4.0 is my first V6 . I didnt even consider the transverse engine. I know nothing about the Taurus and less about the SHO except it was hot.

the Yamaha SHO engines have a cooling system that works in any configuration.
They easily handle track sessions where the cars are at full power for 10-15 minutes,but damn, does the heater get hot then.

also, the heads overhang the rear of the block by several inches. thats where the chains are that connect the intake and exhaust cams.

thats also where the stock air intake is, you'll need the raise and rotate the whole intake system front-to-rear. or suck air out of the firewall.
