Just thought that this should be put in the tech section.

For the 2.3L engines

Some certain year Rangers ( I believe 93+) come with stock tubular headers. This is a cheap little upgrade from a junk yard. Mine cost 20 bucks. Only thing is the EGR is a PITA to put back together, this if you disconnect it in one piece. i just sealed mine off at the header and the EGR valve and did away with the EGR system all together. The header will bolt up perfectly with the stock bolt. However if you can get all the exhaust bolts out of the donor truck i would keep them as it is very easy to break your exhaust studs off. Also be careful to no break off the stud that bolt the manifold flange and exhaust tube together. They are a pain to drill out.

NOTE: If you go to a junk yard where you pull your own part do not tell them its a header, say exhaust manifold when referring to it. Sometimes they wont know any better because they look it up in a book or computer that has common prices for parts, i.e; all ford manifolds are $20 or all ford headers are $75 dollars

Did you notice any difference? I, having a 93 know that it indeed does have a factory header compared to the steel manifold.. I was just wondering if it made a difference

well better gas mileage by a couple miles. Low end torque is a little better, I could feel it for sure

93-97's had them, 98-00 had a cast header thats about equally as good.

I put one on my 83 with exhaust and noticed a big difference over stock.

Im pretty sure they should bolt into any ranger or mustang.

lol yes sorry bout that i just edited it

by the way if you found this post helpful click on the little scale button down in the left hand corner of the post and give me some credit. Thank you

Being that the 2.3 was the only ranger to come with a header, I would think so....
Well la de da de dah! Aren't you all high and mighty.A simple assumption to clarify the post which was corrected by the poster to avoid confusion for others and you have to come along and add your two cents. When the old board crashed most off the a-holes left with it. But I can see that some things never change. It makes me remember why I don't come here much anymore. :flipoff:

Some people really live up to their username's lol.

i did this swap on my 88 2.3 as soon as i got it i paid 30 for the header and got the down pipe with it and studs. i had to remove my ac bracket to cut some of it down to clear the tubing. wasent rocket science. BIG diffrence in sound(open pipe)
