Hey on my 03 ranger the stock air intake has 2 like silencers or something on it. I was thinking of pulling those off and clogging them up. Anyone ever done that before. If so how did you do and how did it work out?

If you clog up the openings how do you think air will get into the box?:buttkick:
There are dozens of threads on the airbox mod, do a search......besides the point that these mods accomplish more noise only and no performance gains.

no dude I'm talkin about silencers in like the middle of the air intake pipe to the intake manifold

For whatever reason the earlier 2.3 Duratecs had 2 silencers near the throttle body. You could plug them but it would have to be sealed real good, otherwise you would suck whatever you used to plug them. Better to just make a modified air intake or get one off a 2007 or newer (they have no silencers there)

How could bringing more air in not give any hp gains? I did my mod with the K&n and noticed a little

dyno proof all over the world. every fukking day.

and yet everyone ignores it...

a raptor has the same gay air intake as a regular 150....not because its one size fits all either. and just like a regular 150 and most intake systems oem on passenger vehicles you can improve all the way around with a better setup.

and that is dyno proven.

wait did i say everyone ignores it.... i meant the select few...

The silencers are in the main path of theairway. You can pull them out and itwill free up restrictions, But if you clogg them up you might as well use plywood for an airfilter. In reality th only BIG change you will see by removing the silencers is that it wont be as silent anymore.

Not really... I pulled the silencers out of my 4L and the difference in sound was almost nothing to nothing.
