stock air boxes??

i have the stock intake on the 2.3 but noticed 2 extra boxes/reservoirs along the intake tube..

are these really necessary? i saw no sensors on them. would putting a straight pipe to the airbox be more efficient for the airflow?

has anyone removed them or plugged them up?

lmk people... im interested in this and personally only see those air boxes to cause more restriction of the airflow.

pretty sure youre talking about air mufflers. just make the air flow quieter.

Ive pulled the tubes out of them, it helps a little.

thank you! yes, air mufflers. what purpose do they serve other than that purpose of muffling air.. does it rob performance at all?

how did you plug the holes.. or did you replace the pipe?

my '09 didn't come with the mufflers--there were plugs in the intake tube from the factory.
