Ok right now am missing the automatic locking cam for the hubs on my 94 ranger is it possable to still use the 4x4. Am thinking if Iuse the 4x4 feature the front wheels just won't lock but the will act more like an open diff. is this right or should I just not use it till I get it fixed.

What do you mean by missing?

If you use your 4x4 with blown hubs or without hubs, the axle shafts will just spin, making 4x4 useless, as it will still be like 2wd because the front axle shafts are not turning the wheels.

What I mean by missing is he guy that owned the truck before me did the front brakes and I guess forgot to put it back together. Since I bought the truck from a dealership my friend works at (got it at there cost) I can't exactly ask the guy where or what he did with it. But you did answer my question, so I guess if I want the 4x4 to work I better go grab some part cause I asked on here and nobody seems to have anything.

Thanks

you might as well get manual hubs while your at it. they are cheaper than auto hubs and are much stronger and more reliable.

dont forget you'll need new spindle nuts if you do go manual.

By spindle nuts do you mean the conversion kit. Also what if anything is kept from the automatic hubs, that is something I don't under stand about the conversion in the tech article.

yes i mean "conversion kit". the spindle nuts used with the auto hubs and the spindle nuts used with the manual hubs are completely different. the auto hub spindle nuts do not fit under the manual locking hubs...thus you need to replace the spindle nuts when you swap in manual hubs.
