Stinking a$$ Buick !!! UPDATE :

The monster in laws 97' Buick Lesabre has the exact problem I told her it was $$ of parts ago they threw at it to fix it, and two mechanics who she paid to "fix it" because she thinks I know nothing.
The damn lower intake manifold gasket is weeping antifreeze.
I did the upper last year and didn't notice anything unusual about it. Her pocket book went tits up and she couldn't afford the labor so she asked me ( finally ) to change the leaky valve cover gaskets on it today. While I was in progress of cleaning all the old grime off thats when I saw the anti freeze.

I HATE BUICKS AND MOTHER IN LAWS !!!

Soo......
did both the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets today.
SUCKED BAWLS. Did I mention I hate Buicks yet ?
I broke the temp sensor so I ran out and got a new one. Over tightened the new one heard a little pop looked down and I hair line cracked the god damn lower intake where the temp sensor screws in. Went back to the parts store and bought some quick set JB weld. Screwed the sensor in to spread the crack just enough to smash some JB weld in it and then backed it off so it squeezed it out of the crack, then spread a decent yet neat a mount over the area.
Let her sit and viola no leaks and good as steel. LOVE me some JB weld LOL!

did I mention I HATE Buicks yet ?

SOOOooooo.. yeah....
rad fluid in the oil for real tis time. Not just moisture.. and after all that work above.
I think I know exactly what its from though. Like a true fook tard I did NOT drain the cooling system before removing the upper or lower intake and probably 1/2 gallon of rad fluid leaked out on the driveway and in the intake valley as well as the oil return galley when I lifted the lower intake off. TRUE NOOB MOVE.
I feel like a complete dumbass for that one. I think between my monster n law haunting me to finish the job, my back hurting, and the rain I just skipped a step I knew better thinking it would be ok.
So I'm gonna do an oil change this week. Wait a week or less and do another. Che cit out in there a couple days after and if its still in there I know its a head gasket and I will be super pissed. Probably blow that piece of crap up.

u should ask her to crash it or burn it and collect the insurance money hahaha

3.8?

i always thought those were awesome cars.....

sorry to hear the troubles.

Yeah its a 3.8L series II.
It was a piece of shit from the day the took it off the showroom floor brand new with 200 mile son it at Marge Schot Buick here in town back in 97'. The 1st thing to go was the transmission pump. Then the head gaskets and upper intake. Then the transmission overdrive solenoid. ALL within the 1st year of ownership. The transmission went out in less than 80 days. Tried to take that clunker back with less then 300 more miles then it had when they drove off with it to trade it for another and they refused. Wouldn't honor ANY of the bumper to bumper warranty citing maintenance wear parts. BULL SHIT.
Got GM corporate involved directly. The forced the dealer to correct the trans, head gaskets, and upper intake, and gave them an extended 100,000 bumper to bumper.
The trans went out AGAIN two years later and they refused to honor the warranty saying they couldn't hear the pump going out. Just road noise. LOL !
Literally the DAY the warranty ran out at 100K I took it in for a tune up. Suddenly with no warranty they found all sorts of shit wrong. MY ASS !

That's when I decided to help them fix up this piece of shit my self. Wish I never did.
Since then I have replaced the MAF, the MAP, both O2 sensors, two fuel injectors, the upper intake assembly, the starter, the alternator, the CAT, struts, trans front pump, OD solenoid again, the radiator, coil pack, ignition module, neutral safety switch, had to disconnect the horn because the factory alarm kept going off in the middle of the night for no reason at all, water pump, transmission lines, AC compressor ( which it needs AGAIN ), and now the upper intake gasket again as well as the lower intake gasket.

Seriously though. as with ALL manufacturers you get the bad once in a while with the good because they are mass produced. Generally ( aside from the known problem with the upper intake manifold plenum failure ) they are known to be really good cars. The 3.8L is strong, long lasting, and the Lesabre is a good riding car.
But this piece of shit IS the exception to the rule.

So, like I said. I'll change the oil a couple times. Probably throw in some engine flush as well. See where I'm at after that. If it still has coolant in the oil I will probably change the head gaskets for her though. I wont like it because of the work, and she wont like it because this time she is BUYING ALL THE PARTS HER DAMN SELF.

Ok so I changed the oil today. Can you say MILK SHAKE.
After a new filter and fresh oil. Still a milk shake just slightly less chocolate colored more tan. Is there a product that doesn't involve dropping the oil pan and scraping it out I can use to help get the glycol and water out ? Or is it a matter of 6 or more oil changes ?

I would just do more oil changes. Not all of the oil/antifreeze drains back to the pan. Some stays up in the heads and oil passages. Dropping the pan won't get that stuff out.

Did 4 changes total, One Solder Seal engine flush, and the last change I kept with half a bottle of Marvell Mystery oil.
A' Viola she is clean as a new born babies ass and runs like a champ :-)
Color me surprised and still feeling stupid !!!

Dropped the pan after the Engine flush. 98% of the shit was in the pan caked up like pudding. Used the old gasket replaced the pan and checked the pan again after the third change. very little gunk. Surprisingly enough the engine Cross member was not in the way of the oil pan. Had plenty of room.

I think the root cause here is that its a Boo-ick. Boooo.
