Still mad as hell at Ford

Sold from 2001-'05, the first Ford Explorer Sport Trac suffered from the launch-model blues. It was based on the old, second-generation Explorer.

It does say it all. 05 and down was based off the ranger (second gen explorer, same thing)

A second gen explorer looks NOTHING like a first gen sport trac. The sport trac does however have the same exterior styling as the second gen explorer SPORT.

The dash is the same as the ranger and explorer. (except for the 2002+ explorers)

My 97 ranger has the same dash as my 05 sport trac.

I don't see how the first gen sport trac could 'suffer from launch model blues'....all ford did was reuse everything from a 95-01 explorer (minus the exterior styling) and 98-present rangers (again minus the exterior styling). I have had zero problems with my 05, just regular maintenance.

according to the ford online "Build and Price", the Sport Trac is not available with a five speed, only a 5 speed automatic in XL, and a 6 speed automatic in the XLT and up package.

new model sport tracs dont offer a manual, but the older ones did came with manual.

^^^LOL!

Did it have the full length center console? That would just be sweet!

They were just like the manual Explorer and Explorer Sports......"shorty" consoles. I think all the manual Trac's I've seen have that goofy ass "purse" bag center console in 'em.

the correct term is "ritard" (thank you Hangover) :icon_thumby:

I thought it was "ra-tard"....

According to us and Ford, we're talking about 1st gen Sport Tracs...01-05. Not 2010. lol.
