I replaced my injectors sure thats what was causing it...but it wasnt. It has more power so thats a win....
Anyways...
Im getting a missfire on acceleration, and now im noticing it cruising as well. Initially i blamed the fuel system but i checked pressure (rigged it up to see while driving) and it stayed between 32-40psi whole time.
So i pulled codes again....it passes the KOER test with flying colors (code 11).
KOEO Im getting a 14 and 18. Its showed 18 forever (both are memory codes) but the 14 is new. I read this usually indicates a dying TFI and\or PIP. I intially ignored 18 because my ranger shows it to and always ran fine.
It does make sense as the issue seems to get worse in hotter weather or after some driving. In the morning when its 58* and its sat all night it runs great untill about 12mi in...then itll miss some. After its spent 5hrs in the sun and its pushing 80 it gets to missing real bad after a few miles on the trip home.
So today i pulled over and pulled the SPOUT connector out and it ran like total shit as soon as i tried to accelerate..and not just nutless...i mean it sounded like muffled machine gun fire. Base timing is 10* . I made it 100yards or so and stopped and plugged it back in.
So...i know what the SPOUT does at a basic level...but i read once thats pulled it relies totally on the PIP to fire the ignition and pulse the injectors?
So based on this is it pretty safe to say the PIP is junk? I did jump the gun and order a distributor for it after a bit of research on the codes. The distributor in it looks pretty new but who knows.
Sorry for the rambling...i think im on the right track but just want some verification.
