alright so i went into my fridge to get some lunchmeat and some american cheese and proceeded to make my sandwich, now...my question is....WHY DOES THE CHEESE STICK TOGETHER!!!!!! its so annoying!!!!
i had to take like a chunk of 5 slices and surgicly remove one piece that broke into like 7 pieces.
One and a while youll get lucky and it will come right off, or if you have it sliced thick its no problem too.
But i like thin cheese and i was wondering if there is any way to make the cheese NOT STICK to itself!!! could it be becasuse of the humidity in the fridge is too high??
and dont even say buy indiv. wrapped pieces cause that stuff sucks!!
sorry im venting about cheese:icon_rofl:...but i figured everyone had come across this problem before and i was just curious if anyone had an answer for me.:icon_thumby:

it had been frozen at one time. good fresh cheese does not do that. cheese that has been frozen and thawed becomes sticky like that.

sorry im venting about cheese

thats ok. cheese is a very serious topic worth discussing.

we store our cheese in a ziplock bag wrapped in a paper towel. the paper towel keeps the moisture off the cheese and seems to keep the "texture" right.

but i agree with BDAB, cheese acts really weird if it gets frozen. do you know the "cold spots" in your fridge? usually the cold air comes in vents just above the rear of the top shelf...so its always colder there than elsewhere. but we used to have a fridge that would freeze things in the door for some reason :dunno:

Yeah, look on the inside of the fridge for a selector or on the door of the storage compartment...it will show "meat" or "fruit" as options...

When my sister bought this house she also bought a fridge off the previous owner and my lettuce in the bottom bin was frozen...checked the settings and it was way too high...

I can keep a head of lettuce fresh for about two weeks or longer by wrapping it in a paper towel and putting it in a veggie baggy...but cheese I usually just put it in a ziplock bag and put the setting on meat (cooler than fruit)...but I don't buy American cheese...just the dreaded mad cow brand from Canada...

my Fridge has a separate cheese drawer next to the meat drawer.

I've seen those too...I used to use the one in the door with the flip lid...but the cheese kept falling out on the floor if you open the door too fast...as it tends to happen around here...

mine is actually a drawer, we spent close to a month shopping for a fridge, finally got an Amanna side by side.

Dude, it's american cheese he's talking about here. it sticks together b/c it's processed crap! God I hate that stuff, it's like eating an old rotten tire.

not all american cheese is that processed crap, and certainly not deli cheese. i don't have a problem but I only buy fresh cheese and slice it myself........ helps to have a deli slicer.

I'll agree with that.

and ill +2 it.

im a cheese freak.

man there are some crazy sophisticated fridges out there these days. every now and then me and mary have to swing by the fridge section at sears and gawk at all the digital displays and big-ass draws and self-closing things and motion detectors....awsome.

I love me some cheddar.

the only fancy thing added to our fridge is the water filtration system and ice maker.

yeah cheddar is the best cheese in the world...esp. VT cheddar extra sharp.

Anyways...thanks for that info...we keep ours in the "snacks" drawer of the fridge so im going to move it down to the "meats" section and try it then.
I did'nt know cheese acted funny if it was ever frozen??
We buy the Land-o-lakes american deli cheese and its good...and i hate that KRAFT shit...thats what tastes like and old rotten tire, and the orange stuff is even WORSE
