So i have a Kenwood KDC900 series radio with a kicker sub/amp. It works great when i play the normal radio. When i wanna play my ipod though the sub turns off any suggestions?

I assume you are using the rear "AUX input" for the Ipod on the Kenwood 900C.

The Kenwood 900C doesn't have a Sub "out" so the problem could be in the way you wired in the Sub/amp.

You connected the amp's remote turn on lead to the wrong wire on the head unit.

Remember in the 90s when some cars had power radio antennas? You know, like this:

You turn the radio on, the antenna goes up. Turn the radio off, the antenna goes down. Obviously you only need the antenna up when you're listening to AM or FM radio, not when listening to a CD or iPod. So, many aftermarket head units will make the antenna go up only when you're listening to AM or FM radio. As soon as you switch to iPod/CD/whatever else, the antenna will go down, even if the head unit is still turned on.

You connected the amp's remote turn-on lead to the power antenna wire. That wire is only hot when you're listening to AM or FM radio, so that's why the amp turns on and works while listening to the radio. As soon as you switch to the iPod, the wire is not hot, so the amp turns off.

There should be another wire on the head unit for the amp turn-on lead. Connect the amp to that one. And since your truck doesn't have a power antenna, just tape off the antenna wire and don't connect it to anything.
