Stereo wiring problem

I am having a wierd problem trying to wire up a stereo in my 96 Ranger. I bought Scosche harness so i wouldnt have to cut any wires. Well, i picked up what i thought was the correct harness since my truck was only equiped with an AM/FM casette player. When i took the stereo out it appears to be wired up like a premium sound system even though there is no sign of it ever having any thing different. The power harness is the same for both but the speaker connection is different. I took that one back and got the one for the premium sound system Ranger. Everything connects propperly but i can not get any sound out of it. I tested the stereo and if i hook up a speaker to the stereo i can get it to work on all four channels, i just cant plug it into the truck wiring and get any thing. I do know that the speakers in the truck work too because i just took out the factory stereo and all four worked then. I dont know whats goin on, any help would be graetly appreciated.

Do you have a factory amplifier behind your passenger seat? If so, be sure that you hooked up your amplifier wire on your Scosche harness to your new radio's harness (i think that the wire is blue). That's how you get power to the speakers with the premium system.

+1. If you have premium sound like you say, the factory amp needs to turn on for the speakers to work.
