What kind of topper? The options are near endless. I had an old Chevy Luv, an 80 I bought around 96 or so, the first thing I found was a plain black topper with windows on both sides (had their own frames) and the back hatch was a large window with its' aluminum frame
I got on a job where we worked straight 7 day weeks, usually 10 hour days, and if we got any time it would be on Sunday when we worked a 'short' 8 hour day.
It was a large Dillard's add on and remodel, and they were throwing away more material than I could bare.
Stopped at an Ace Hardware going home and grabbed some 1" angles and framed them into the topper. One at each corner and a 5 ft one across the top, reinforced with some small elbows with ready made screw holes.
After seeing what it would do I added a 1/2" x 5 ft wooden support on top of the topper and just under the cross member, making them fairly solid.
I had an old barn with lots of room and hauled stuff home almost every night.
One time it was a bunch of 2 x 12 I had asked about early on, sitting in a fenced in parking lot on an upper level, and the day came they said get that out of here.
That lumber might have weighed more than the truck itself, and on some corners I wished very much I had slowed down Much sooner.
That little rack did an awesome job
