I have a 1992 Ranger and my bed is shot. I want to put a classic Flareside type bed on it, what would be the closest option anyone can think of?

Get one out of the junk yard or off Craiglsit and bolt it on. I'm pretty sure you'll need a different filler neck. But if yours is original, it will need replacement soon anyway.

+1 ^^^

I think 1994 was the first year Flareside/step side was offered on Rangers

The 1994-1999 Flareside will bolt in and have the same tail light wiring, 2000 and up will work but you will need the tail lights from 1993-1999, or a 3 wire to 2 wire converter

The 1993 and up Rangers were about 2" wider than 1992 and older, but not sure that would be noticed on flareside as much as styleside(regular)
The frame was the same, just body got wider

I am not looking for a Ranger bed. I want a classic style bed to put on my truck from the 50's or 60's, maybe 40's. I can fabricate for the mounts. I am more asking about widths and lengths I guess

Have a look here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/ford-ranger-dimensions/

You have a 1st gen, 1983 to 1992

All Rangers have a 6ft bed, regular or super cab are the same, as are style or step side lengths
There were Long Bed Rangers, styleside only, and regular cab only with 7ft beds, but used a different frame, the rear axle was 6" farther back, so the long "beds" don't fit on standard bed Rangers, there's a 6" gap between cab and bed, when wheel wells are lined up

Width will obviously be an issue, but step sides are narrower
Other issue will be wheel well from center to cab, or it will look goofy

No, I don't know of a non-modified bed from another model that would fit a Ranger

Are you talking about the shadowbox style?

Yes, like one of these beds on a Ranger

A guy over at InfamousNissan.com used one of those beds on his hard body. I didn't like it but it turned out ok

He has since painted it lime green with black accents. You'll notice the 5 lug swap and I believe it also has an LS motor swap
