I have an 88 with tilt and cruise. What size are the holes to pull the steering wheel? I have tried standard thread and none of them work but I do not have any metric bolts. So I need to go buy some metric bolts but do not know what size. Thank you for your help.

you don't actually need a puller to get the wheel off of a gen1 truck remove the horn pad and nut and twist the wheel back and forth against the column lock.

The shaft has two "flats" that are kinda loose and the wheel is actually wedged on a
conical taper, but it's also being pushed OUR by a spring, so a twist slghtly to the left
and a twist slghtly to the right and it usually pops off into your hands.

Thank you AllanD. I tried this after you said but could not get it off. So I rented the tool from auto parts store and took it off. Thank you for for advice.
