Truck is a 94, and has the crummy stock steering wheel. It looks horrible, the plastic has become soft and feels gooey ... it's awful.

What do you guys suggest I replace it with?

Preferably a bolt on, I'll have enough wrenching to do in the coming weeks.
Would a more recent Ranger wheel fit (assuming I can get the steering wheel and airbag cover ... but not the airbag ... 94= no airbag!) What should I be looking at?

Thx

airbag

the 94's don't have airbags? I have a 94 ranger and I coulda swore mine had one...one sec lemme go look

Wow, someone stole my airbag :mad: jk lol. I didn't know that. Thats good to know actually, you could even go with aftermarket stuff and not have to worry about an airbag.

94 has no airbags, get the cheech and chong impala chrome steering wheel ;missingteeth;

but seriously, if you figure out a good replacement post it up because mine is shot too, i have one of those slip on ring covers on mine because the leather is gone.

if you can find a good leather wrap steering wheel cover you can stitch the inside edge and it won't move once its on, honda had some nice ones for civics and accords, i wonder if they would fit?

Wow, yup mines shot too.

I asked a while back if the newer OEM wheel would fit on a 3rd gen. Nobody knew/responded. If anyone knows, Speak up. :icon_thumby:

if by newer you mean like after 3rd gen I don't see how that would work, even with just the single reason of how you'd have to mess with the airbag..although still, even if it was in there it would be like it wasn't there anyway, it would just sit there and not do anything in the event of an accident since there's nothing from the computer to tell it to go off.

Of course the air bag wouldn't work. I just want a newer wheel. Cause they look better, not because I wanna be safe in an accident.

If I wanted to be safe in an accident I'd put a smart car inside an suv and drive that around.

I want to put a wheel from an '88-'89 mustang on mine. No bag, and cruise still on the wheel. The only problem is would the cruise buttons wire up and function? MJ

I know there are unused "rings" on the oem wheel's clocking ring. But you would have to fab up a mount to add in extra contact buttons to the column. I don't know if the mustang wheel uses the same "rings" on the back of the wheel.

Hmm, well, I can get it with upper shaft (what it mounts to and the tilt), or the entire colomn. Will that mount to the factoy linkage? Ahh the ideas... starting to hurt my head... MJ
