It has been in rough shape for about a year but this week it has actually started to come off and stick to my hand. Any recommendations?

Could you give us a few more details on the truck? What exactly is coming off? Guessing it's a later model with the leather wrap. Mine is getting pretty rough too, thinking about finding a nice basic wheel and installing a wheel skin.
go get a steering wheel cover and call it done

It has both airbags and cruise control. Actually it is an 01 but it has spent all its life in phoenix. The material will come off on my hands whether its hot or cold. The worst part is at the stitching 2 o'clock. A cover wouldn't cover that part. Will take a pic next time I drive it.

One of the wheel covers that lace together would cover that... unless its on the spoke?
