who makes the best one for the money for my 91 ranger 4x4? and does anyone have any pics of how they mounted theirs???

I have Procomp on mine. It comes will all the brackets and took me about 20 min. to put it on. I welded a bracket to the frame to mount it and the other end goes on my steering arm (hydraulic set up). Check Ebay. There are a bunch to look at. I use Procomp shocks and I love them so I bought the steering stabilizer to match and put on on blue boot and a Ford logo decal to make it a clean look. I have used them on my 4x4's and my lifted 2wd trucks. I really like the looks of them but don't think you really have to have one. I got mine free with the shocks I bought at 4WheelParts a few years ago so I mounted it.

I have no personal experience with stabilizers. Everything I've read indicates that if you have your front end set up properly there is no need for one. But here's a not very good pic of one mounted on a b-II frame I bought. It doesn't show well in the pic, one bracket mounted on the front diff bolts, and a u-bolt [not mounted] on the passenger side 'tie-rod' [unsure of terminology ATM];

I've seen all different kinds.... they way some of them mount is retarded. I've seen one that uses the diff bolts on the front axle as a mounting point, I think procomp uses a bracket that drills and bolts to the engine crossmember, and the rought country one comes with a bracket that clamps around the frame, which I would think is better than the others. I've also seen a monroe one on older rangers that bolts through the frame using existing holes. the shock itself is probably the same which ever company you go with, see that a stabilizer is pretty much just a 50/50 valved shock.... if you really think you need one anyway.

That is true up to about 33" tires. After that, they are somewhat desirable as the large tire size will induce vibrations in the steering.

Having your tires dynamically balanced should prevent that (I have no vibration or shaking in the steering with my 35x12.50s, no stabilizer).

Proper dynamic balancing is done with weights added to both sides of each wheel.

When I switched to a manual steering box after my P/S pump & box gave out--

I get Bad bump-steer every now & then when hitting a big pothoel/truck tries to change lanes!

The steering is all good & level/no wear at all on 30,000 mile tires/ no vibes 0 thru 100 mph/box is in real good shape/no wandering/truck holds the road well by itself

.....just that lane-changing/pothole problem

so...name me some good stabilizers to at least keep it in the same lane when I hit a good pothole.....

Yeah, this is true of just a regular rotational tire vibration. I'm talking about more of a bump-steer type vibration. The Super Duty trucks come with them, and those have something like 34 or 35 inch tires stock.

I have a Rancho on my Ranger. One bracket mounts to the cross-member and the other to the tie rod. I used a couple of pieces of 2x2 box to compensate for the lift and make it level....

I also have a KYB on my Zuk (manual steering). On it one end mounts to the axle tube and the other to the tie rod.....
