I should replace the oil in my power steering. but anyone know why it moans when cold? I am running oversize tires and the oil smells burnt!

You lucky dog. Yours only whines when it's cold. Mine whines any time you have the engine turning. Ford PS pumps are just made that way, I guess.

If the oil smells burnt, replace the oil. Follow the Ford instructions to change the oil, doing your best to keep the air out of the system. Clean, airless PS oil usually quiets the pump down.

My buddies minivan's power steering pump is so loud I swear its about to die at any time. Apparently its normal for his to be loud. Like hear it inside the minivan while driving loud.

Mine leaks. slowly. about 2 ounces a month. It gets louder when it starts to get low. Its a self bleeding system so you should not be sucking any air unless its low.
