Hey guys I'm 5.0 swapping my 96 ranger using a 98 ford explorer with Pat's as my donor vehicle.. I've got motor bolted in and all and now I'm trying to swap complete explorer steering column into my ranger but I'm having a hard time finding a steering column wiring harness diagram for my ranger and explorer so if someone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it....

I looked up both vehicles, the steering column has several different electrical systems inside it. The diagrams for each system is separate. If you want them for free, you can go to your local library and get a library card. With the card number, my library has access online so I can go home and log in to the library and I then have access to Chiltons online. For example, below is the turnsignal diagram for the 1996 ranger. You have the ignition switch, cruise control, and shift interlock and maybe a few other systems in the column.

I have never done this swap, but how hard would it be to take the harness out of the explorer and use it in the ranger? Lighting, electric windows, everything? If both have power windows, just unplug the rear explorer door window wiring and tuck it away, you do not need it unless your truck is a 4 door. Run the explorer wiring along the frame in the ranger for the rear lights, front lights, etc.

It's just a lot of work. Some areas are difficult to access. But not impossible.

Idk about this swap but My buddy and I ls swapped a 88 silverado using a 04 silverado as donor and we used the complete harness from the 04 on the 88 so it's not hard just time consuming..
