when doing the 89-94 dash swap into the 84-88 rangers, can you use the explorer steering column or are they different than the rangers???

cant you use your original column? idk, but i thought the only difference was the steering wheel... i may be wrong though

Well Im switching over to auto so I had planned on using the explorer column, but it isn't fitting as I thought it would. Maybe I do need a ranger column???

I had to move the mounting bracker on the column up since the whole column seems to be a hair longer than the ranger column. And there's no room to connect the ignition switch pigtail in either, so might have to make a trip to the local yard and see what i come up with.

figured it out. i had to remove the steering shaft from the column to the gear box, install the column and then reinstall the shaft. works now.

Old thread but I’ll give it a try. I have a 85 ranger, I’m doing a 302 automatic swap. I would like a tilt automatic shifter column with cruise. Does anyone know what columns will work? What year Bronco II’s Rangers?
