Yep, was on a test drive after finishing my brake work and as I was going through town I came up behind a red corvette convertible, I noticed it said “state trooper “ above the plate and the plate itself was one of those you see on a state vehicle. Guy driving had the trooper hat on, when he went around a corner, sure enough the door was lettered and had the ohio highway patrol emblem. no light bar of course, maybe theres one on the dash. had a plastic or glass partition behind the seats that said “stingray”. I dont know enough about corvettes to know what year it is , looked fairly new though. Suppose he makes a arrest, call for backup to transport? Ive heard of michigan patrol mustangs and ohio does have full size blazers (think they call it a yukon) but a ‘vette? Glad it wasn’t behind me, Id of not known until it was too late.

Ohio must be writing a lot of tickets if they can afford a Vette for a patrol car.

Since the V8 Chargers I think most of the special pursuit rigs have kinda died out. Nebraska Highway Patrol does maintain a Foxbody Mustang for social events/parades/etc though.

When I was going to college Nebraska was running black Camaros. They had the boring V6 bodykits but had LS1's in them (which where a big deal at the time)

Probably was impounded/surrendered.

Indiana runs mustangs. I saw 5 in a 30 min timeframe on I 70 a few years ago

Our local cop cars are ford escapes. You can outrun them on foot. :icon_thumby:

God have mercy on anyone who needs help when it snows more than 2 inches. :icon_rofl:

Tennessee wins.

Back in the 60ies (yes I'm old) Ohio had a few 409 Chevies with no markings.

Still not as bad as NYC's Prius and fusions..... or impala....

What's the point of even using police cars in NYC? You can't drive anywhere in that god forsaken hell hole....

Maybe the 'Vette was confiscated. The local PD in my hometown would often drive cars that they confiscated from drug deals or whatever. For a while there was this Red Cadillac with a blue rag top and all the metal was gold plated, riding around with cops inside. Very small sticker on the DS and PS front doors explaining that the car was confiscated and was being used by the Local PD. They mostly just gave tickets and called for transport but it was funny to see those cops riding around in that PimpWagon. A gold Mustang GT was used for a while too.

State police do that with boats here. They will pull up on a bunch of people partying with a confiscated bowrider or other fancy ski type boat with the cop driving wearing a jimmy buffet shirt or something ridiculous. Then after they spot everyone drinking and driving or doing other nefarious things the uniformed officers pop out. It's kinda funny watching them haul drunk teenagers back with magnum P.I. driving a drug dealers stolen ski boat.

What good is a boat if you cant drink on it?🤷‍♂️

Ive seen local area cops use confiscated vehicles, but never a state highway patrol. ( that im aware of , anyhow )
