Heres the deal, i just bought a 93 3.0 5speed for 1300, 151k miles on it, ran fine for about 1 1/2 weeks and it shat out on me, was driving home from work and was going into 3rd gear when i let off the clutch to hit the gas the car gave no reaction so i floored the gas and it caught up, about 5 mins later it did the same thing but by the time i could hit the gas the car had died, i pulled over and tried to start it back up and got nothing, waiting a few minutes and it fired right back up, so about 2 days later the car wouldnt start at all, the alternator in new as well as the plugs and wires, the car it getting spark, so i was told it was the fuel pump or filter, so i replaced both of them and i am still getting nothing, i took off the cap to the scrader valve to the injector rails and i was told if you push it, it should shoot out like a geyser, and its only oozing out, so to make sure it wasnt the fuel pump i took off the line coming from the gas tank to the fuel filter and turned the key over to see if the pump was working and i got nothing, but if its wasnt working that way it shouldnt be pumping fuel to the injectors, could it be my fuel pressure regulator? i have no clue what to do anymore, me my dad and my uncle are all stumped, please give me any info you can, would be greatly appreciated, thanks all

oh i also forgot to mention i sprayed the intake with starting fluid and it ran until the fluid dried out, same with gas

scandog;

It sounds like your fuel pump is not working. When you took the fuel line loose at the filter and turned on the key you should have been hosed down in gasoline. (BTW, that was a REALLY dangerous thing to do).

Take the gas cap off and listen for a humming sound inside the tank when you first turn on the key. The pump should cycle on for about 5 seconds and then shut off. If you don't hear the pump cycle, you need to start checking the power circuit for the fuel pump. Verify that there is voltage going to the pump. Things that may be causing a problem are:

a). A blown fuel pump fuse. Located in the fuse box under the hood.

b). A bad fuel pump relay. Also located in the box under the hood.

c). An open collison shut off switch. Located on the inside firewall on the passenger side of the transmission hump.

The electrical diagrams located on this site should get you started, or you can purchase a Haynes manual for your vehicle.

If the pump does hum when you turn on the key, you need to check for fuel pressure the SAFE way by attaching a pressure gage to the Scrader valve on the fuel rail. Gages can be purchased or rented from an auto parts store such as Auto Zone. Zero pressure would indicate a bad fuel pump. Low pressure would indicate a bad pressure regulator.

thanks for all the help guys but i forgot about the inertia switch, all i did was reset that and pull and re-plug all my fuses and it fired right up, what a dummy i am, next time that happens thats the first friggin thing im checking! lol
